Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy UK Cost

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves breathing in pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, and has been used for a variety of conditions such as carbon monoxide poisoning, wounds that won’t heal, and decompression sickness.

While it has been used for decades, it has recently gained popularity as an alternative treatment for a variety of conditions.

However, one of the biggest concerns for patients considering HBOT is the cost, particularly in the United Kingdom where the therapy may not be covered by the NHS.

In this article, we will explore the  hyperbaric oxygen therapy UK cost and information surrounding this treatment on the NHS.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) sessions required depends on the specific medical condition being treated, its severity, and the individual patient’s response to the therapy. In general, some conditions may require only a few sessions of HBOT, while others may require multiple sessions over a period of weeks or even months.

The number of HBOT sessions required will be determined by the treating physician and will be based on the patient’s individual needs and response to the therapy. It is important to follow the recommended treatment plan and attend all scheduled sessions to ensure the best possible outcome. It is recommended that during your course of sessions that you attend them daily for best results.

However, many people feel improvements after just one or two sessions, although we always recommend a minimum of five sessions to see the best results.

Is This Treatment Available On The NHS?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is available on the NHS for certain medical conditions, but the availability and eligibility criteria vary depending on the specific condition being treated and the region of the UK.

In general, the NHS may provide HBOT for conditions such as carbon monoxide poisoning, gas embolism, and decompression illness.

However, for other conditions such as non-healing wounds or chronic conditions like multiple sclerosis, the therapy may not be routinely available on the NHS.

Patients should consult with their healthcare provider to determine if they are eligible for NHS-funded HBOT or if they need to seek the treatment through private providers.

Unfortunately, it is not funded by the NHS in the South West area. The Oxygen Centre is a completely private set up and we charge for our sessions.
